MEET OUR TRAINERS
Every Mother, Inc. trainers have extensive experience providing counseling and lactation training throughout the U.S. Trainers are International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) with experience in program coordination and management, as well as training health professionals. Trainers are also experienced in working one-on-one with new families.
Cathy Carothers is co-director of Every Mother, Inc., and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant since 1996. An experienced trainer and speaker, she has provided more than 700 training programs in every U.S. State and Territory and several countries.
She served as national project director for Federal breastfeeding initiatives, including the USDA Food and Nutrition Service WIC Breastfeeding Curriculum, Using Loving Support to Grow & Glow in WIC (breastfeeding staff training curriculum), and Loving Support Through Peer Counseling initiatives; the HHS Maternal and Child Health Bureau Business Case for Breastfeeding initiative; and the HHS Office on Women’s Health Supporting Nursing Moms at Work initiative. She also serves as the Mississippi liaison and trainer for the Communities and Hospitals Advancing Maternity Practices (CHAMPS) initiative, and consultant for Coffective.com.
She is a Fellow of the International Lactation Consultant Association, past president of the International Lactation Consultant Association, and past chair of the United States Breastfeeding Committee. She was honored by the National WIC Association with their “National Leadership Award” in the “Friend of WIC” category in 2014. She also served as former Training and Outreach Coordinator for Best Start Social Marketing, former State WIC Breastfeeding Coordinator for the Mississippi State Department of Health, and a former university publications director. She is the mother of five breastfed children and Nana to seven beautiful breastfed grandchildren.
Kendall Cox is co-director of Every Mother, Inc. She is the former Breastfeeding Coordinator for Best Start Social Marketing, and previously worked for the Mississippi State Department of Health WIC Program, managing the peer counseling program and the breastfeeding promotion and support program over a 9-country district. Kendall has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant since 1998 and a La Leche League Leader since 1996. Her breastfeeding work experience ranges from helping mothers as a WIC Peer Counselor to coordinating the “Breastfeeding: The Gold Standard” Conference. Kendall lived in Botswana, Africa for 3 years where she was a Peace Corps volunteer and trainer. She and her husband Wade are the parents of breastfed twins.
